Attention, witches and demons!
It’s come to the attention of the staff here at The Owl House Wiki that we’re seeing increasing trouble with repetitive spam-like edits and posts – also known as “trends” here.
While off-topic posts are allowed, hence the reason we have an “off-topic” category, the off-topic category is intended so users may communicate, share and discuss topics not directly relating to The Owl House. Low-effort posts such as just emojis in the body text or writing “hi” with no further text (not to be confused with introduction posts) are often deleted, as they clog up the discussion page and off-topic category, making it unnecessarily difficult to moderate. Another recent problem we’ve been having on this Wiki is “trends” – little games, often non-productive, that get reposted at a rapid rate by many users in a short period of time, soon dying out. This floods the feed and discussion page with all the same thing, seeming spam-like due to its repetitive-ness, and makes it incredibly hard to moderate the Wiki for the staff members. This also goes for editing trends, such as editing others’ userpages just for the sake of it, which makes it difficult for edit moderation. We recommend you please refrain from trends like this for the time being. Not to say these games are banned, but they are considered spam in many cases (which is against the rules), and often do not serve purpose overall. Though, if games of the like are all kept in one thread instead of new posts each individually being made every minute, this may be okay and much more efficient.
Another important thing that needs to be brought up is the topic of heavy vent posts. The Owl House Wiki, and FANDOM as a whole, is a public website based off of media, it is not the place for bringing up heavy and difficult topics. Topics such as suicide or thoughts of committing violence being discussed is prohibited on FANDOM, so please avoid making these kinds of posts; they will get deleted. Instead, reach out to these resources FANDOM provides.
Not only these specific topics, but bringing up heavy and potentially triggering topics in general in vent posts is strongly discouraged here. Please remember that everything you share here is on a public website, and keep in mind how it may affect others.
We also ask that you try to limit off-topic posts daily. Off-topic posts are perfectly allowed, but as stated before, their purpose is for discussing, communicating and sharing with the community.
This may change in the future, as things change, shift, and cool down; but for now, please keep this all in mind, thank you!
