@Hawas1983 Whose right about what regrading Lumity
@Pythorback22 true, but I don’t honk he deserved this kind of trauma. As bad as Hunter initially was, he was honorable and it’s clear his misdeeds were because of the ignorance and brainwashing that Belos subjected him too.
Belos was the real villain and he had to go.
And now that he is, Hunter is able to enjoy a peaceful life where he can finally be happy
Hunter.
He already questioned Amity once about her relationship with Luz in Eclipse Lake. If he has concluded that Lumity is not a healthy relationship then he is correct. Luz and Amity have serious relationship issues between them.
Hunter was completely wrong about their relationship. He kept insisting that Luz was demanding Amity come back with results or not at all, when the whole time Luz was texting that she wanted Amity to come back safely and was wishing her luck. She cared more about Amity than the Titan Blood. The first thing she did when Amity returned was hug her, relieved that her awesome girlfriend was OK. She didn’t even ask how the mission went, she was just relieved to see them all safe.
Hunter was wrong and it’s clear he was projecting his, very much abusive relationship with Belos onto them. Luz and Amity care deeply about each other, their relationship isn’t perfect, but they don’t have a serious issues. The fact that they have been together for 4 years is clear indicator of that
Luz lies to Amity even after Amity asked her to stop. Luz isolates herself emotionally from Amity and seeks emotional solace from Hunter. Luz confides in Hunter rather than Amity. Luz was prepared to abandon Amity at the portal after Amity had told her she wanted to share her future with her. This results in Amity living in a constant state of anxiety over her relationship with Luz.
This can be in no way interpreted as a healthy relationship. This is the situation that broke up Raine and Eda.
Amity isn’t living in constant anxiety. She is not an emotional wreck, she is not hyperventilating when the situation goes bad. The only thing indicated to have given her constant emotional stress was the relationship she had with her mom which is now over
Yes, she is. We've seen it. How could she not be? She knows Luz lies to her. She's asked Luz to stop and Luz hasn't stopped. No healthy person would tolerate such an arrangement. Raine didn't but Raine is an adult. Amity is an emotionally damaged child. She doesn't know what a healthy relationship looks like. Neither does Luz.
Amity has lost all interest in all parts of her life that don't involve Luz. That is neither normal nor healthy. That is not a relationship. It's codependency.
Amity lives to be Luz' "awesome girlfriend" even as Luz lies to and emotionally withdraws from her. Even as Luz looks to Hunter for the emotional support she won't seek from Amity. Even as Luz confides in Hunter the way she won't confide in Amity. Amity is not in love. She's having a crush. She doesn't have the emotional awareness or maturity to understand how badly Luz is treating her.
She seems to have the emotional awareness and maturity to recognize that Luz doesn’t do it to be cruel or abusive, but because she knows how troubled and in pain Luz truly is, from her stress to fulfill her promise to her mother to struggling to deal with her father’s lost.
Lumity is not an abusive relationship. Amity and Luz have risked their lives for each other numerous times and Luz would do anything for Amity, even give up her own life for her if it came to it. their relationship isn’t perfect and Luz could do better with keeping her secrets and painful feelings to herself, but that doesn’t mean she is abusive. It’s absolutely nothing like what Odalia did to her.
The fact they have been together for 4 years and are just as loving towards each other as ever is a further proof to this.
I really feel bad for Hunter in this scene. He may have done bad stuff before, but that was because of how much Belos brainwashed and sheltered him.
In this scene he learned his whole life was a lie, that he isn’t a full witch, that the person he loved most was a purely evil monster who just tried to kill him, that he is a clone of someone else, that he was helping a monster’s plan in ending all life on the isles, and that all of his brothers were murdered by Belos and that he was next.
His panic attack was frighteningly realistic and he so didn’t deserve this kind of trauma
She seems to have the emotional awareness and maturity to recognize that Luz doesn’t do it to be cruel or abusive, but because she knows how troubled and in pain Luz truly is, from her stress to fulfill her promise to her mother to struggling to deal with her father’s lost.
It doesn't matter if Luz intends to be cruel or abusive. Luz' intent doesn't matter. Luz' behavior has the practical effect on Amity of being cruel and abusive and Amity is suffering stress and anxiety as a result.
Amity has no concept of Luz being troubled and in pain as demonstrated by her treatment of Willow. If Amity genuinely had that level of empathy she would have resolved her issues with Willow a long time ago. Since Amity has done nothing regarding her history with Willow whose trouble and pain was directly caused by Amity herself, the idea that she has any such concerns for Luz is inconsistent with Amity's own demonstrated capacity for cruelty.
Lumity is an emotionally abusive relationship for Amity as she is suffering the effects of emotional abuse. She is suffering stress and anxiety as a direct result of Luz lying to her and continuing to lie to her even after Amity asked her to stop.
Amity cannot trust anything Luz says to her because she knows Luz lies and won't stop lying to her.
Luz also withdraws emotionally from Amity. She keeps secrets from her and was willing to physically abandon her. She confides in Hunter and seeks out Hunter for emotional support.
As for being in love with each other for 4 years, that was fan service which is all that Watching and Dreaming was. Luz and Amity were never in love. They were crushing on each other. They were 14 year old children when they started crushing on each other.
Neither Luz nor Amity have the first clue as to what a true romantic relationship and commitment is and they've had no opportunity to learn if their relationship experience comes only from each other. Luz has demonstrated that by her lying and Amity has demonstrated that by her anxiety and inability to challenge Luz and walk away from her bad behavior.
Raine has demonstrated the healthy response to being lied to and emotionally abandoned in a relationship. Raine walked away.
What do you think?
