I don't get the posts or polls where people or users will ask, "Who wants to be my friend?"

Friendships are a bond formed over time. It's great trust and communication. Imo, you don't just ask if someone can be your friend. If it's a real friendship meant to happen, it will happen. Slowly, you and that person will grow closer and closer as you communicate more and find common interests and begin to form trust.
