i would say they had a close bond, but whether or not it's romantic would definitely depend on external factors — traumas brought them together, and healing bonded them, but who's to say how they changed as people (together and apart) over the series🤷

Honestly, based on the interactions between them in the timeskip at the end of Watching and Dreaming, either a romantic or platonic conclusion could be made for how they interacted. It wasn’t outright “HEY GUYS WE’RE DATING” nor was it “we’re just friends”. It could be either one, or a little mix of both. I think they just kinda left it open for fans to speculate and come to their own conclusions about how they ended up. While I personally come to the conclusion of their interactions being romantic, what with the whole holding pinkies thingy at the end of For The Future, it could go both ways.

I think they are basically canon in the time skip. I mean, all they would have to do to look more canon is kiss each other on the lips or literally say that they're together.

(Which would have at least helped the fandom to debate about this less.)

Also, people usually don't blush like that at each other (even just from holding pinkies!) if they don't like each other.

I think that they would have made Huntlow more obviously canon if S3 hadn't been cut short.

But, you know. It's fiction, so people can interpret it however they like. :)

I think it was pretty obviously confirmed. You don't need to flat-out say they got together to indicate that they are. Verbal confirmation is not always necessary. If it was, by that logic, Eda and Raine never got back together because it was never outright stated. It's called visual storytelling, and it all points to them indeed being together.
