Uhh... I'm running out of ideas as to how to begin these things, so... ON WITH SEASON 2!
The (relatively quite minor) reveal of Braxas being Warden Wrath's son. Ain't this just a wholesome picture of father and son? Look how HAPPY they are to see each other!
Speaking of family, Mattholomule also briefly mentions his older brother in this episode, who is, of course, Steve!
Luz, in doing research on "humans" in the library, comes across these headlines:
Paddleballs are not to be trifled with.
So THAT'S how the Good Witch Azura books got there.
Of course, this is a reference to the film series Planet of the Apes. Only ever saw the original film from 1968, but I enjoyed it.
Perhaps the musical adaptation of Planet of the Humans is bound to be a greater success among Boiling Isles audiences.

I say, how very kind of this Philip Wittebane to donate his diary! He seems like a very good man who would never hurt a fly!
"FINALLY! I CAN LEARN HOW TO SUMMON THE DARK LORD!"
I love how they present Malphas (the librarian demon) so menacingly here...
And then it just cuts to this... the fact he speaks with a completely non-threatening "Valley Girl" accent makes it even funnier.
Of course, something nearly everyone forgets about "Through the Looking Glass Ruins" is that it's not supposed to be predominantly a Lumity episode... it's predominantly a Gus episode! So let's get back to that plot now!
The Keeper of the Looking Glass Graveyard... I really like this guy. He is everything I aspire to be in life: a crazy old hermit.
The old man proposes his plan to get the intruders out of the Looking Glass Graveyard: RELEASE THE HOUNDS!
The Keeper saying he'll call in the hounds is likely a reference to Mr. Burns' famous quote from The Simpsons: "Release the hounds."

Gavin finally meets his "father"... really an illusion of himself with a giant moustache.
Ahh... traumatizing a child... eh, she deserved it.
Also, seeing Gus and Mattholomule warm up to each other is quite nice, considering how much of a jerk Mattholomule started out as.
Edric contemplates eating the giant pile of LEAN that came through the window.
AUBERGINE-HAIRED AMITY JUMPSCARE!
Hello, Philip Wittebane! You seem like a very respectable gentleman! You would never kill your own brother, let alone attempt to commit genocide, would you?
And amongst the fandom... there was much rejoicing.
It's also genuinely sweet what Amity says to Luz before this: "You always have a way of sneaking into people's hearts." Really sweet considering how much Luz changed Amity for the better.
All these guys have cornered you in an alley, what you gonna do?
Splat!
"Daaaaaaaaaaaaang, that's the good stuff right there."
Hieronymus Bump face reveal! Technically we've only ever seen the lower half of his face until now.
EMMILINE BAILEY MARCOSTIMO!
Truly the greatest EMMILINE BAILEY MARCOSTIMO that ever EMMILINE BAILEY MARCOSTIMO'D!
Look at that li'l rascal! Don't get too attached to him, folks... don't get too attached.
Hunter casually whistling the TOH opening theme... he's broken the fourth wall, he's too dangerous to be left alive!
Goodbye, Hunter!
Hunter face reveal... technically his face is also Caleb's.
These two are such siblings.
"MOM SAID IT'S MY TURN ON THE XBOX!"
Hunter tells Luz his backstory, about how his family was wiped out by wild magic and Belos took him in... too bad all that was made up!
The Bat Queen lets Flapjack go after he finally found a companion after all this time... he probably hasn't had a companion since Evelyn.
I know everyone else has already brought up the abusive nature of the relationship between Belos and Hunter, so there's nothing really more I can add to that, except: damn, it's scary just how close Belos came to potentially KILLING him there.
And yet, it is poor Hunter who apologizes to Belos, for "speaking out of turn".
I noticed how Hunter had this little smile when Belos told him that he expected better of him... he thinks his so-called "uncle" really loves him and wants the best from him... poor kid.
SPRIG PLUSHIE!
Poor Raine... speaking to a bunch of people is torture for them. Yep, can relate... I think just about everyone can, for that matter.
The Bards Against the Throne (B.A.T.) use their magic to make these bozos walk into a trash can... truly diabolical, I like it.
I love how Principal Bump tries to say hi to the principals of the other schools...
And then in the very next shot, you can see them in the background, walking away from him!
Damn... rejected.
"ALL VICTORY IS FLEETING!" sayeth the Cup of Ephemeral Glory. Very true, very true.
And at last, we finally meet Darius Deamonne. Turns out he's as much of a revolutionary as Raine. Also a much better father figure for Hunter.
Eda saying that she and Raine should play on, regardless of if they make it out or not, definitely reminded me of the heroic real-life actions of the Titanic's band, who played until the very end. Likely not an intentional reference, but still an interesting parallel.

Gee... I wonder who this guy is. He looks like he could be King's father... there's no way he's a member of a cult seeking to eradicate King's kind!
Eberwolf turns the volume up on King's video just to annoy Darius.
"Why are you this way?"
