See, but Amphibia never got canceled, either. Amphibia's ending was heartbreaking, don't get me wrong, but it got a full final season. The owl house only got the three specials, which was more than what we could've asked for, most cancelled shows just straight up end, no special finale or anything. So maybe I'm still bitter about it's cancellation, but still...
If anything it's the other way around. The most obvious place to start would be to compare the Plantar's Time in the Human World to the Hexsquad's time in the human world
Thanks to Them: Luz has depression, Flapjack Dies, Belos Possesses Hunter, Hunter tries to drown himself, Urgency when it comes to trying to return to the Demon Realm
First Half of Amphibia Season 3: Sprig Becomes Spider-Man, Anne has no visible trauma from the events of True Colors, Plantars try to babysit a cat, back to the filler structure of Season One, No Urgency about getting back to Amphibia until Episode 10
Eh, not really. can't remember much of amphibia but the owl house seems a lot darker
@Astro350 That's what I'm trying to say. The Hexsquad show no visible trauma from the events of King's Tide right after entering Camila's house. Disney wants everything to be lighthearted only for 2-11 ages, that's what children's shows should be like, that means no deaths, no trauma, no tragic endings, no seriousness, and no resentment. Always happily ever after and quickly forgiveness. Disney has gotten more “corporate” if you will by playing things safe. I hope you get my point.
@BoxmanCool Pretty sure what you're trying to say is the exact opposite of what I said. Please read my comment again
that means no deaths,
Flapjack
no trauma,
The entire point of Luz's characterization is about how she's been affected by the events of Season 2
no tragic endings,
What's that a series had a happy ending for its characters? SUGARCOAT SUGARCOAT SUGARCOAT. I guess Megamind is a bad movie because it had a happy ending. I guess Return of the Jedi is a bad movie because it had a happy ending. I guess Home Alone is a bad movie because hApPy eNdIng. Toy Story 2 had a happy ending? SUGARCOAT SUGARCOAT THIS MOVIE SUCKS
no seriousness
Wha- I just- did we watch the same show?
and no resentment
Luz resents herself. "bbbut the Hexsquad quickly forgive her aNd aMiTy sHoULd hAvE bRoKeN u-". She. was. tricked. by Belos. And the Hexsquad understands that. For the Hexsquad to turn their back on someone dealing with this level of mental anguish and knowing all the hoops Luz jumped through just for them, showing how much she cares about her at a time when Luz needs them now more than ever would be completely forced and sweet titan am I glad they didn't go in that direction.
You seriously need to rewatch Season 3 my guy
@Astro350 There is no season 3 at all, only television movie that was split into three parts. Disney only calls them season 3 for marketing purposes. Okay, what about the Collector didn't stop the draining spell, how would the Hexsquad react that?
The what ifs don't matter. What matters is what actually happened
The Owl House was cancelled and never got the ending that was originally planned.
You can't compare that to a finished story/series like Amphibia.
a more favorable comparison would probably be Ducktales (2017) Season 3 vs Amphibia Season 3
(#DucktalesSweep)
I love to compare the two shows a lot. But I've acknowledged there are a lot of differences between them. But these two shows can always be compared for many reasons. But I will admit as for the question.
I don't know completely. The shows had their intense moments, moments of being intense, dramatic, saddening, battle and war centric. But I think they balance out everything in a way that's a good way to do it.
But I don't know if I can see sugarcoated. The Owl House seemed to be where a world ruled by an evil man was having the people try to take him down after a human entered their world and Luz became the hero they all needed.
Amphibia was more like trying to help a kid get home but also become the hero that they all are surprised they need while also trying to stop a war or conflict that could spread to other worlds. So it's kind of hard to say for me if it's been sugarcoated.
What do you think?
