This has been bugging at me for the longest time, but Eda always reminded me of someone, and I just couldn't put my finger on who. Today, it finally hit me, she's pretty much a carbon copy of Ryoko Hakubi from the Tenchi Muyo franchise. If you don't know Ryoko, allow me to make the comparisons.
First, there's the obvious appearances, as you can see for yourself above. Both are tall and have long, spiky hair styles that are very similar and are a grayish color, both have golden yellow eyes, both have long ears that stick out, and both have fangs.
But then there's their characters. Both have VERY similar personalities, like almost exactly the same. Ryoko is also a con-artist, a thief, and a space pirate with the law after her, just like Eda, and she's infamously famous for being a criminal. She possesses alien technology that borders on magic. She has a rival who's after her for her bounty, pretty much the same way Lilith is after Eda. She has a cute animal-like pet who is basically her version of King. Both end up following the found-family trope. Heck, even their voice actors (well, Ryoko's original English voice actor) sound remarkably similar.
So what do you think? I couldn't find anything confirming it, but do you think Eda was based off of, or at least inspired by Ryoko? From appearance to personality to background to character, Ryoko is basically the anime version of Eda (or vice versa I suppose). I can accept that there are time where there are coincidences in similarities when it comes to characters, but this time it seems a little too coincidental with a little too many similarities. For those that know about Ryoko, do you see it too, and for those that don't know her, based on what I described, what do you think?
