My guess is they didn't have the time to add a love interest to Gus or they didn't think of it. But I personally don't think Matt should be in a relationship with him.

The show isn't revolving around romance as one of the users has said. Also, just because Gus reacted with fascination with Bria doesn't make him like her. He was just impressed by the kids use of magic, nothing romantic about it at all.

But I'm glad Gus didn't go for Bria, she's a thief and a bratty jerk. She got karma raining down on her hard and I loved it. But since Gus was twelve at the time. He probably didn't have any romantic interests or wasn't developed enough to understand how the relationships work or he probably wasn't interested at the time and if he wasn't interested in anyone yet even in the epilogue. Then that's his decision as someone else said.

He might not be interested in anyone? He also just might not have fallen in love with anyone/gotten into a relationship over the course of the series. (He seemed to have a small crush on Bria in "Through the Looking Glass Ruins," but it's hard to tell.)

Anyway, the point is that he doesn't, like, have to have a love interest to be happy. Maybe it just wasn't his time. It would be a kind of weird coincidence if all of the Hexsquad got in relationships around the exact same time, anyways.

Plus, they're all just teenagers! They have lots of time to find someone, if they want to. I hate how much pressure there is for everyone to be in a relationship (in real life, or otherwise).

Even non-aro/ace people can feel happy and fulfilled while not in a relationship.

So, in a TLDR answer to your question: Gus either didn't meet anyone he wanted to be in a romantic relationship with during the time period of the series, did meet someone, but didn't pursue a relationship during the time period of the series, or simply wasn't interested in a romantic relationship at all during the time period of the series.
