Watching and Dreaming
By this episode it was quite clear that Dana was done with the show and moving on. The episode abandoned everything that had been built up since the show's premiere and devolved into pure fanservice where everyone gets everything they wanted including the fandom.
For the future because THAT KIKIMORA PLOT WAS USELESS, they already had less time, and they decided to use it for a useless plot nobody wanted
Though For the future's poster is my favorite TOH poster ever, I love the colors and the collector's design (though they messed up the colors, the white side of their shirt should be on the side of the purple on their face, not the purple) .
Watching and dreaming was the best, also because it brings together all the adventures nicely and I like the references to past episodes, also I like how they made the collectors arc a parallel to Luz's and I found the titan Luz part very interesting and cool. Though I wish the rest of the Hexquad and the collector did more in the Belos fight, I liked how they used the 3 original main characters.
My fav episode of the entire show is thanks to them
the rushed mess that is for the future. aside from its severe pacing issues (which make the episode feel really dragged on and boring) it's also mostly a freaking filler episode (which doesn't help it being interesting at all)
like seriously, what were the writers thinking? s3 started with the arguably best episode of the whole show, just for the quality to drop like it hasn't in any cartoon i've seen. the whole kikimora side plot doesn't bring anything to the table, and the characters get developed in such a rushed way that it almost ruins them as much as wad ruined luz and tc. well, except for gus, who got no attention at all (as usual atp)
also, let's not forget that the episode was leaked months before it came out. that's not rly criticism for the episode, just a fun fact for everybody who wasn't around back then
For the Future, hands down. Sure, the poster is well-drawn and colored, the Emerald Trio's character arcs conclude acceptably, the Nocedas make amends, and Stringbean finally debuts. Otherwise, however, it's just a dragged-out filler episode and among the series' weakest, especially considering it's the last one Amity, Willow, Gus, and/or Hunter play major roles in.
Like @TigaTheDragonLover said, the whole Kikimora/Boscha subplot was totally pointless and wasted precious runtime the showrunners already had little of to work with. The spotlight they hogged should've instead gone to the Collector, the Clawthornes, Amity, and Vee (the latter of whom really should've come along and shared the Nocedas' reconciliation moment, IMHO) or been used to better-pace the Emerald Trio's subplot.
I wouldnt say WORST. Worst implies it's bad, which it isn't. I would have probably said weakest instead.
