Sorry, I meant later in the pilot episode, since I didn’t finish it. I think I only got 10 minutes in but it seemed kind of all over the place
It's normal for pilots to be all over the place. The purpose of the pilot is to convince a producer to greenlight the project. The Hazbin Hotel pilot was all over the place as well. The actual production version of HH is very different from the original pilot. If Glitch presses forward with this concept I expect the same will happen so don't get too attached to this pilot. The production version of KoG is likely to be very different.
The pilot was peak imo!
@FroH606 yeah I think it does get better later. It didn't seem all over the place to me. What exactly confused you? That might help me tell you if it gets better.
@Hawas1983 You have a good point about the TOH fandom framing the show as Dana's spite project, but you can't deny that there are a lot of obvious shots at Disney during the pilot. Anyone can notice those, whether they've watched The Owl House or not. And I personally love KOG and I appreciate that Dana is trying to branch out and not let herself be defined by The Owl House. I think she's done a great job so far! Glitch has really given her the freedom she needs to shine and do her absolute best work.
I don't necessarily see this as the shot at Disney fans want it to be.
First, this exists.
We know that Dana uses anime as an inspiration and influence on her work.
Second, corporate controlled dystopias were in fiction long before Disney.
This famous and iconic film also features a gynoid.
Japan even made an anime based on this film.
There are more influences behind this project than fans are aware of or want to be aware of.
^Yeah, but it can influenced by various other media AND be a critique of Disney at the same time.
True, but fandom is acting like that's all this show is.
Not the ENTIRE fandom. I said before that I do not see KoG as JUST a critique of Disney. I love it more for the original story and the artstyle. I genuinely like it for more reasons than it just critiquing Disney. I'm sure a lot of other TOH fans feel the same way. Please don't assume things about the entire fandom when you don't know how literally everyone feels. People have different opinions. Sure, some may like it only because it makes fun of Disney, but others may hate it for that exact same reason, and still others may like it for its other qualities. Imo, it's a little bit rude to assume that the entire TOH fandom is treating it like it is just a Disney critique when it's possible for the fandom to have multiple different opinions or stances on KoG.
This show is definitely being framed as Dana's revenge against Disney.
^oh wow there’s a lot of videos
^^ I've seen most of those over the past few days, and I don't need you to shove it in my face and act like I'm blind or something. I just want you to politely acknowledge my point, as I am trying to acknowledge yours. I know that most people see KoG as Dana spiting Disney. But the opinion of many does not mean that everyone feels that way. It's a lot like the "appeal to the people" fallacy in logic. KoG is not just an "f you Disney" show. It's more than that. If that was all it was, it would be a horrible show. But it has an interesting premise, great writing, amazing world-building and pacing, and likeable characters, which all work in its favor, and all of those things do not tie directly into the part of it that is calling out Disney.
Some people might appreciate and love KoG NOT for spiting Disney, but rather for its plot and the parts about it that are not directed at Disney. Those people just may not be as outspoken about it, or they may not have the resources to make an article or video about it. This is going to be my last comment on this topic because I don't want this back-and-forth to go on for too long. I acknowledge your point, and I hope you see the possible truth in mine as well. We are both right, in my opinion.
What do you think?
