They're a lot more inconvenient than people acknowledge
First of all there's only so many glyph papers you can carry (did I mention that paper can be easily damaged?)
If you run out of them you'll need either 1. a surface that can be drawn on or 2. a spell to summon more glyph papers. If you don't have either of them you're screwed
Plus there's a lot of glyph combos to memorize, some of which are complicated/look similar to each other. If you mess up and use the wrong glyphs/combos you're screwed
Also if you accidentally activate a glyph while it's still in your pocket you're screwed (unless you're lucky enough for it to be a light glyph)
The only reason Luz doesn't have any of these problems is probably just bc 1. she's practiced for like... months I think and 2. she has protagonist plot armor that gives her photographic memory of any glyph combo she learns
Luz: while practicing Light glyphs, Luz falls into the boiling sea. After realizing its not boiling, she decides to explore and gets eaten by an anglerfish on her way to jazzercise
I don't know if this is off topic or not
What happens if you combine the light glyph, plant glyph, and fire glyph? I saw a photo of it, do I'm curious.
When, I learned about the premise of the Owl House, I was expecting different plot and character developments that what we received so far.
Luz Noceda is an outcast who travels to a magical realm and wants to become a witch. I was expecting the episodes to revolve around Luz learning new spells and becoming more strategic to confront different predicaments. After season 1, I thought Luz would train more to become stronger in case she fights the emperor again.
This only seems partially the case seeing as how Luz only learns magic a portion of the time. A lot of the episodes seem to just be forgettable misadventures.
I thought Luz would gradually become a powerful witch worthy of succeeding Eda. In addition, Luz would use magic to find out who she is. Like her magic would grow with her desire and determination.
The show seems to focus an exceptional amount of time on shipping.
I also thought Luz's spells would upgrade. Like her light spell becoming a powerful laser. Or her fire spell becoming a vehement inferno.
Still, there's the issue of Luz's outcast nature. She's an outcast on Earth and she is different from others in the boiling isles. I felt this could make for compelling character development and growth about identity. Like, Luz really expressing how she feels about being different.
Honestly, I'm glad season 3 is only 44 minute specials. I feel like such shortened time frames should compel the writers to truly focus on the pertinent aspects of the show.
So in DnD there are magic tattoos that let you cast spells with them. So I came up with the idea of glyph tattoos I think maybe it would be like, if you want to do a single glyph spell, the glyph glows like it does before the paper would dissappear, and then you can like wave your arms or finger/s and it would make the spell happen how you want.
So like, you could use the fire glyph to become a firebender. Now, I also think the tattoos have to be done with magic and not ordinary human tattoo ink. Like, tatoo ink will make it function as a normal glyph, straight uo blasting it out of the tatoo, and leaving a gaping hole where skin should be. It makes sense to me, what do yall think?
So far we have Light, Ice, Fire, and Plant. King suggested that maybe Luz hasn't found any more because there are no more, and all magic comes from combining these four in different ways, but I'm not entirely sure. Typically, there are 10 elements that are pretty universal in all media, Light, Fire, Ice, Plant/Grass/Leaf/Wood/flower, Darkness, Metal/Steel, Earth/Rock, Lightning/Thunder/Electricity, Water, and Wind/Air. I suppose Darkness can be included with Light, Water can be included with Ice, and (if we go off A:TLA) Lightning/Thunder/Electricity can be included with Fire (or maybe even Light), and possibly if we include Water with Ice, then maybe we can include Wind/Air with it (since it can evaporate). I guess that would just leave Metal/Steel and Rock/Earth, which I guess can be included together. So I guess the list can be condensed down to 5 with just the Steel/Metal/Rock/Earth being another glyph that still needs to be discovered. Sometimes energy/spirit is included as an 11th (so this would include things like the Oracle track), but usually it's just the 10 I listed.
So I guess at minimum it would look like this:
Light Glyph - light and darkness magic (maybe lightning/thunder/electricity)
Ice Glyph - ice, water, air/wind magic
Fire Glyph - fire and maybe lightning/thunder/electricity magic
Plant Glyph - plant/grass/wood/leaf magic/flower
Earth(?) Glyph - earth/rock, steel/metal magic
So combining these 5 glyphs allow the user to perform all the different kinds of magic. Maybe if you REEEEEEALLY stretch it, Earth can be included with Plant since it's "earthy", or maybe with fire (i.e. lava and/or molten metal). I don't know, I'm just spit-balling here. Thoughts?
Welp, I wanna draw Amity all of a sudden. Have some Luz while I debate what to do.
Lmao it was meant to replicate the S2 intro, but it looks way more like the S1 intro
