I bet that Amity regretted wanting to participate in the Bonesborough Brawl again due to the traumatic events from "Reaching Out" where she tried to connect with Alador, had Luz involved, and faced the anniversary of Luz's father's passing. As a result, Amity hates the Bonesborough Brawl because it serves as nothing but a painful memory for the Blight family.

Amity and Luz had put up a facade until Understanding Willow and Reaching Out, respectively.

It's honestly adorable after how Amity calls Luz batata, or "sweet potato", the two of them just adopt that as a pet name for each other.

In this flashback to the events of "Yesterday's Lie", Camila tells Luz that once she comes home, she doesn't want her to go back to that "horrible place". Yet that's not actually what she said in "Yesterday's Lie", what she actually said was that she'd try not to push Luz away again. Luz's distress over being torn between two realms seems to have twisted her memory of her last interaction between her and her mother.

Eda was about to say that the Coven Day Parade is just a big way to kiss the Emperor's ass... yeah, she couldn't say that word on TV, but I'm saying it here, where the Disney censors can't find me! HAHAHAHA- wait, what- OH CRAP, THE DISNEY CENSORS FOUND M-

Raine's favorite movie is Die Bard 2. They never really struck me as someone who'd be into action movies, honestly. Still a very based take on their part.

Aww, is she crying? Good.

Nothing much to see here, just Edric dealing illegal fireworks to King, who gleefully accepts the illegal goods. Never change, you two.

Raine casually dropping the realest quote of the whole episode:

As will be revealed later in "Them's the Breaks, Kid", Raine whistling into the tea is how they're managing to keep from being drugged- err... brainwashed by Terra.

Once again, this old man is everything I want to be in life. For the Illusion Coven's float, he just sits down and eats his peanut butter and jelly sandwich while casting a giant illusion all around him. I wish I could afford to be that lazy too.

It is sad knowing that Raine tried to pretend as if they had no memory of the events of "Eda's Requiem" in order to try to protect Eda, as they didn't want her to be involved with their plans for taking down Belos and risk her own life in the process. That's gotta be a lot to handle.

Oh, this... this is the exact moment her lust for power changes to mortal terror when Terra informs her that she gets... TO LIVE. Oh, it's beautiful to watch.

Ironic how Terra, despite being a villainous character, actually helps out the protagonists in this episode by stopping Kikimora. This actually happens again in "Them's the Breaks, Kid".

Emperor Belos' long-awaited public face reveal. He claims to have hid behind the mask for all those years out of fear. No point in staying hidden any longer if he plans to purge the entire Boiling Isles in only a month.

Although his face reveal seemingly failed to impress the youth.

Lilith's mentor (and rival): Flora D'Splora. Luz says she has some questions about that name. Do I really need to explain this one?

Aww, look at her, she's so happy about balusters! I platonically love her so much. This is what I'm like when I'm info-dumping about how many boilers were onboard the Titanic (there were 29).

Amity's Titan-bloodstained glove from "Eclipse Lake" is once again being used as a "Chekhov's Gun" (item in a work of fiction that ends up being useful to the plot), after earlier it had been used to fuel the portal door in "Yesterday's Lie".

He died the way he lived...

...partying hard. Poor guy didn't even get a grave, but at least even in death he's still giving the two thumbs up.

Also, his helmet is missing in the present day as Luz will take it while in the Deadwardian Era.

Speaking of... the name "Deadwardian Era" is a play on the real-life "Edwardian Era". In the Boiling Isles, the Deadwardian Era was sometime in the late 17th century in human years, whereas the real-life Edwardian Era coincides with the reign of King Edward VII of England from 1901-1910. The Edwardian Era is commonly perceived as having lasted past Edward's reign up until the start of the First World War in 1914. The Titanic was an example of Edwardian technology and her accommodations being divided into first, second, and third class upheld the class distinctions prevalent in Edwardian society, and in turn, her sinking rocked the very foundations that Edwardian society was built on. But that's enough about that.

I know most kids would probably find that "cringe", which is why I honestly love how Luz is so supportive of her cool aunt's love of history.

Luz narrowly saves Philip's diary from being burned by Red Fang and Green Fang, who want to know what became of their brother Blue Fang and his palisman.

Yeah... they're dead.

Oh, hello Caleb.

Philip states that it took him years to discover the glyphs, almost as if the Titan himself was trying to keep them from him.

I think the Titan had a pretty good reason.

He also tells Luz that perhaps they were destined to meet... heh... heh.

Speaking of, I find it interesting how time travel works in this universe. Going back in time doesn't create paradoxes, instead, it creates what is known as a "stable time loop", where anything a time traveler might have done in the past has already happened within the present from which they originated. Basically, Luz and Lilith really were destined to go back in time, as the time loop would not be stable otherwise. Whether or not time travel would theoretically result in stable time loops or paradoxes is still up for debate among those science-y types, which I am not, so... back to the retrospective!

Eda pretending to be Lilith was funny... even funnier since Gwendolyn asks King if Eda really thought she was fooling anyone.

Of course, Philip Wittebane soon reveals his true colors. I get he's evil and all, but just look at that beard. That is some majestic facial hair. I can respect a man with a big beard like that.

The fateful moment of Philip uncovering the Collector's tablet... yep, that's not good.

ARO/ACE HISTORIAN PUNCH!

Once again... I platonically love Lilith so much. And once again, I love that Luz is happy for her cool aunt as well.

Eda reconciling with her father was a very sweet scene. Although we don't see him much, Dell really is a good man for not holding the loss of his eye against her. He also tells her how he's been helping the Bat Queen replenish the palistrom trees so that someone new can take up the trade of palisman carving. Sure enough, as of the epilogue, Hunter is carving palismen under his tutelage.

I'll say it again... I love how much Luz loves her Cool Aunt Lilith.

SNOOOOOOOOOORT!

Yep, when I first watched this episode (on the day it was released, I had actually gotten into the show by this point), I knew with 99% certainty that Philip had to be Belos. For one, we see him consuming palismen, and what's more, in this last scene, you can hear the voice of Matthew Rhys (Belos' VA) speaking over the voice of Alex Lawther (guest VA of Philip). Even in the credits, Matthew Rhys is credited as having provided the voice of Belos for this episode.

Also, notice the scar Lilith gave to him... he still has it as Belos. He probably could've had that healed with healing magic, but he chose not to.

Darius tells Hunter that he was mentored by his predecessor... very strange how the previous Golden Guard just so happened to come down with a slight case of the death one day. I wonder if Darius ever thought about what exactly happened to him.

Flapjack comes up with a false name for Hunter: Caleb. Gee, I wonder where he heard that one before?

"Leaving everyone at the top of a mountain and seeing who makes it down alive? Heh, heh... classic!"

The whole B-plot of this episode is just Luz and Amity being their goofy selves and coming up with theories about the author of the Good Witch Azura books.

Reminds me of another show...

Hunter no-clips into the Backrooms and is never seen again.

And the realest line in this episode goes to... Viney:

"Now I'm only scarred... EMOTIONALLY!"

"I get it... tensions were running high... ice pack for Steve!"

Skara really did some damage... especially funny considering when she found out she was being recruited into the Emperor's Coven, her reaction was to cry like a baby (understandable), then afterwards punch Steve (offscreen) so hard the guy gets a dent in his mask.

"Steve is really starting to regret his life choices."

-Steve, who has a habit of referring to himself in the third person.

I love how it's Steve, this rather minor character, who makes Hunter think about his actions. Good job, Steve!

He's back...

I think I understand Tibbles' character now... he's like Balloon Boy... he's SUPPOSED to infuriate you, and that's what makes him so fun. Even he mocks Luz and Amity for thinking that they were going to find out some massive "plot twist" on the author (before Amity punches him with an abomination fist). It's as if he's mocking YOU, the viewer, and relishing in your seething anger.

But when you think about it... he's the one responsible for selling the Good Witch Azura books in the Boiling Isles... which helped to bring Luz and Amity together... there might have been no Lumity if not for TIBBLES! Think about that...

And thus is the start of the father/son relationship between Darius and Hunter. Aside from showing his fatherly nature towards Hunter, this scene also shows that he's not quite evil as the viewer would have previously been led to believe... and sure enough, he's one of the coven heads secretly working to foil Belos' plans.

I love the detail of Darius booing. Alador and Darius' little rivalry was always a fun little detail, especially considering they might actually have feelings for each other. (It's implied in the epilogue, but not confirmed one way or the other. I don't bring you headcanons, only facts!)

Also, his username implies that he's a fan of the book which King and Luz wrote (and King took all the credit for) back in Season 1.

Eda and Edric teaming up was a real nice side plot. Gave him a little more depth.

I like how this episode had Amity actually be mad at Luz for lying about setting off the Abomatron's alarm. I think it's good that it doesn't just show them constantly loving each other, because that's not how healthy relationships work. However, this is the only time I can recall so far where this happens in the show. Perhaps we could have seen more moments like this if it hadn't been shortened? I don't know. But still, I like that this one time, it showed Luz and Amity going through a bit of a rough patch in their relationship, as it makes them a more believable couple.

All I can say about this is that... it's just so dang sad. You can't help but feel bad for Luz since she can't participate with her mom in picking flowers for her dad since she's stuck in another world. No wonder she tried to avoid thinking about it... that would be... well, I really can't phrase it any better than this: so dang sad!

First time we've seen these two interact. Eda tells Alador that she has his eye on him after the "factory incident" from "Escaping Expulsion". I guess they better get used to each other since their kids are dating. On that note, it is really sweet that Eda considers Luz her child, she even refers to her as such in this episode.

Once again... despite his menacing exterior, and despite the fact that not five minutes prior he had become even more dangerous after drinking a botched blabber serum, Warden Wrath is very easily intimidated, and it's hilarious to watch. He also says that he got demoted for stealing his coworkers' lunches.

However, he does tell Eda what he knows about the Day of Unity, and he seems to not be a fan of the idea either. And later, in the epilogue, he's seen helping his son get a palisman, so this guy definitely has a soft spot on the inside.

Eda tells Edric that he has a future in wild magic. Sure enough, in the epilogue, he's teaching at the University of Wild Magic.

Alador definitely hasn't been the best father, but the thing about him is that he's willing to change for the better. Odalia... is not.

It's honestly sweet that Luz, with Amity's help, found her own way to remember her father while separated from her mother. This scene was really sad but also really sweet, knowing that although mother and daughter are apart, they're... together in heart? Look, I know that's cheesy but I don't know a better way to phrase it.

According to Hunter, members of the Emperor's Coven get only one day off a year, but Warden Wrath was on two day offs on two separate days that aren't the day off that members of the Emperor's Coven get. He was on a day off in "Through the Looking Glass Ruins" and on another day off in "Reaching Out". He was on a day off on the day after the day that Emperor's Coven members have a day off on. Do you think it probably has something to do with his demotion?

These are mediocre questions to ask, but I'm going to ask them anyway. Why did Eda call Warden Wrath "buddy" when she was asking him if he was still in there and why did she brush off snow to reveal Warden Wrath after she recently shoved him back into the snow?

I’ll let you guys know that I’m going to a Season 2 special that take place after the event of Reaching Out when I work at Disney. It will start at Hexside where Luz was that Edric and Emira are enrolled in Potion, Beast Keeping, and Healing classes. Mattholomule will also reveal that he also been enrolled in Illusion class. But all of the sudden, Alador arrived to tell Amity and Luz that he convinced the Demon Hunter Leader to redo the Bonesborough Brawl to make up for ruining the final match last night. This makes Luz and Amity to be very excited.

Later that night, Edric and Emira give Amity their concealment stones and end up being exactly as she was in Reaching Out before the brawl began. But, unknowingly to them, Odalia overheard everything and called the Coven Heads to help shut down the brawl. Luz and Amity are doing great in the brawl. Willow, Gus, Edric, and Emira, Eda, King, and Alador are cheering. They are some how unaware that Darius, Eberwolf, and Raine are watching from the sidelines. But when they reached the final matched with the Warren, they were interrupted by the 5 Coven Heads. And they are Vitimir, the Head of the Potion Coven, Mason, Head of the Construction Coven, Hettie Cutburn, Head of the Healing Coven, Osran, Head of the Oracle Coven, and Terra Snapdragon. They came to shut down the Bonesborough Brawl so the citizens can focus on getting ready for the Day of Unity. But Amity refuse to to have the brawl shut down. So the Coven Heads decided to attack them. Willow and Terra face each other. Willow became even stronger than Terra. Odalia was watching was pleased with herself. But Eda and Alador spotted her and decided to attack but Odalia defends herself. But not before Lilith, Darius, Eberwolf, and Raine arrive to deal with their corrupted friend, who said that they’re not her friends and that she was using them for her entertainment like she did back in Hexside. She even revealed that she tricked Lilith to finding the Owl Beast curse to use on Eda to help her become stronger and she’s responsible for the rivalry between Alador and Darius, which he have confirmed. Alador and Darius decided to end their rivalry and work together to stop Odalia with her scheme. Lilith and Edalyn become furious with Odalia for her evil behavior and are ready to defeat her with help from Raine and Eberwolf. But despite their best efforts, they’re no match against the Coven Heads. Hettie had a knife near Emira’s throat, Vitimir is about to pour a death potion into Edric’s mouth, and Mason is about to slam his hammer on Willow and Gus. Osran and Terra then blackmailed Luz and Amity to step down and let them shut down the Bonesborough Brawl or they’ll let them watch as they’ll enjoy killing their friends. Luz and Amity had no other choice but to comply and accept defeat. Causing Vitimir, Hettie, and Mason to let go of Willow, Gus, Edric, and Emira. Osran even revealed that Odalia made the right choice to call them. This makes Amity very furious. As the Bonesborough Brawl arena is getting demolished and the sign now saids cancelled forever, Luz and Amity are now upset that Alador’s good old days are gone. Amity is now very furious with Odalia for ruining this best moment and that she will pay.

Don't you think Eda and King's reasons for why Warden Wrath had to help Eda are ridiculously petty? Don't you think they should've given better reasons for why he should have to help Eda? The only good reason Eda had was Warden Wrath "imprisoning" Luz, which never happened. She probably meant to say threatened. How are chopping off her head and stealing his crown good reasons for why he should have to help her? How about wrongfully imprisoning and punishing innocent people for ridiculously minor reasons and playing sort of a role in Eda's petrification ceremony? Those are better reasons.

SECRET LUMITY KISS!!!!

Amity's seeming excitement to join it was, IN FACT, forced upon her by Odalia. Amity also hoped that if she will have to participate in something she dislikes, she might as well try to get something out of it for herself such as love and respect from her family and the others. Amity was expecting for a better future since, according to her sister Emira, the former wasn't happy in the past and it wasn't denied by Amity who was looking for a future that would make her happy, which ironically wouldn't have happened at all.

Do you think King's character development was undermined in "Reaching Out"? He told Warden Wrath that one of the reasons for why he has to help Eda is because he stole his crown, but that wasn't a good reason. That was just a poor excuse. King should've just gotten over it since that was a long time ago or a while ago. He got a replacement crown and Eda told him that he was never the king of demons. Since he got a new crown, which he happily accepted, from Luz and learned that he was never the king of demons from Eda, then he should've just let go of Warden Wrath stealing his crown and move on already.
