This is so heartbreaking but I just love their character designs.

I definitely like it when children’s shows explore darker themes, because it allows children to pick up on them and learn about the world. Some shows that do this well are She Ra and the Owl House, which contain layers of context children can be able to pick up on as they grow up, depending on the child. What I don’t like is over the top amounts of violence and gore and horror in children’s shows, like the later Dragon Prince seasons. It desensitises children (and adults) to violence and takes away from the quality of the show imo. I’m not saying there has to be no conflict or violence in shows – just that in some shows it’s unnecessary to have that much and it doesn’t add anything meaningful, it’s just gratuitous. Shows with more sophisticated and complex themes aren’t necessarily “better” than more lighthearted shows, they can both be good in their own ways and it depends on the individual shows.

Yes, she is definitely a horrible person. But the reason we all (rightly) hate her is because the skilful writing of the show made it that way.

People can appreciate Odalia for being well-written.
