hi whats up i remember you
hmmm is it avatar the last air bender? (guessing that cause amity's va also voices katara)
if they were the same why would dana pretend to be someone else instead of just posting the comics on her own social media
also mark used to make comics of TOH while the show was still going on, and i think if dana was mark, she would not have time to make daily comics while producing the owl house as well
hii there i kinda remember you!
i think the main reason many people have left/become inactive is basically just the show being over and discontinued and a lot of the people who used to be active in 2023/early 2024 not being active anymore because of becoming busier with life/family/work/school/etc
announcement posts automatically ping/notify every user who interacted with a wiki in the last 90 days (im pretty sure its 90 days but it may be more)
that's the reason you were pinged in veggie's announcement post, because of your reply from like a week ago (on the post about the most notifs people had gotten)
bye veggie and good luck!
hope we'll see you around
oh btw, to make it so that lava magic is actually usable, you don't need actual lava, just earth, and you can turn that into lava, which is why it has the same weakness as fire, just instead of heating any flammable material into fire it's heating earth until it turns into lava. though i guess lava is a lot hotter than fire so maybe lava mages have an ever higher normal body temperature that fire mages.
maybe i should look up the highest temperature your body can be at before your blood vaporizes....
and being extremely hot and then being extremely cold in a very short amount of time probably can't be a good thing
but again i guess this doesn't have to be realistic lol
yeah i was thinking that too, like what would count as storm magic, and how would that work for light/shadow magic, etc. i guess the second option would work for having some type of cost to using magic (e.g. maybe to use fire magic, you need to carry coal or some other flammable material with you to use it, to make it feel more grounded in reality), but this is magic after all, so it doesn't really need to be believable.
as for the other stuff, i think each element should have it's own similar drawbacks to using it too much and have a limit. like obviously theres fire, magma, lightning, and ice already, but maybe for like air, air mages are like better at breathing or something, but using air magic too heavily makes you feel like you're holding your breath/choking, and not having enough air means you can't cast magic so you don't run out of air completely. i don't have many ideas for the other elements' "weaknesses" right now, but if you have any suggestions let me know
what do you think would make more sense for this magic system: being able to create the element out of nothing, or having to have the actual element near you to manipulate it. i'm leaning towards the second option but idk lol
also i had some more ideas:
you know how in some works it's common for a side effect of using fire magic to be your body overheating, well for this system i had the idea of it actually doing the opposite because you aren't just creating fire, you're taking the heat of one thing (the body heat of the user) and putting it into something else (summoning a flame). so maybe the fire mages of this world are born with a higher normal body temperature, and casting fires uses up that heat, making their body extremely colder. but also, to keep this from being able to freeze your body to death, maybe you can't create fire if you are too cold, which makes using fire magic have some drawbacks and an upper limit to how much you can cast it. but also, since your body temperature would be higher than average, maybe you could cast a small fire to keep yourself from being too hot. (fire magic making you feel colder doesn't sound right but i think it makes enough sense to work lol)
that would probably also be the case for magma and lightning magic too, and the opposite for ice magic (normally colder, using ice magic makes you hotter, being too hot means no ice magic)
uh not really... i guess plant or water could be quite cool. which one would you pick?
this wiki is not actively dying, it is pretty stable right now, it just feels that way to people who have been here since 2023 and earlier, including me (and perhaps people from early 2024, since i think that's when the activity started dropping significantly), since it is A LOT more inactive than it used to be
back in like the end of 2023 (aka 2 years ago), when a lot of people started saying "the wiki is dying!", i literally counted every single new post made in the last 24 hours, and i counted around 50 posts, but if you count right now, it's only 5 or 6 posts
also i made this graph in like 5 minutes on how active this wiki has been since 2023 (i know it's not really super accurate but whatever)
i actually haven't thought about that much but i think it would probably be based on the natural element of your parents (though maybe you could also learn other similar types of magic as well)
for the other elements, this world is supposed to be made up of all 12 of them, so they would be seperate types of magic to the main ones, but you would be able to use very limited magic of the major component of it. like as an example with earth, metal, and plant magic; if you were someone with plant magic abilities, you would not be able to manipulate rock and stone as those are heavily linked to earth magic, but you would probably be able to manipulate sand and dust, and the same goes for metal magic. also, since earth magic is in between metal and plant, earth mages might be able to manipulate small plants such as grass or maybe metal in a dust form but not very much else
so yeah you can use elelment combinations without needing to be able to use the main 4 elements
i know the lightning symbol looks like a sun (which i only realized after your comment), but that was unintentional as i was trying to make it look like an electrical spark or something, and lighning bolt designs are kind of overused lol
i did originally try making a lightning bolt as a placeholder icon, but i couldn't get it too look right in pixel art
for the shadow element, it was actually meant to look like a demon or something (the "ears" are supposed to be horns) but i guess it looks a lot like a dog too. though i guess wolves are a type of dog and have a stereotype of coming out and night (when everything is "covered in shadows") so it kinda makes a little bit of sense
one of the main abilities of shadow magic users is being able to summon "shadow creatures" which are like semi-sentient black cloud-ish/smoke-like beings which can be controlled by, and take on whatever shape the user wants, so i guess that could also be an explanation for why the icon looks kinda like a dog-like creature
for shadow creature summoning, i had the idea that these beings physically cannot touch or go through light because it acts as an invisible shield of sorts, which makes them kind of similar to classical vampires (this weakness is so that they're not too overpowered, though that doesn't help when it's night-time unless you use fire magic or a flash-light).
i thought it would be cool if there was like a shadow creature character who was long forgotten or abandoned by the person who created them and wants to fit in with normal people, but can't reveal their identity and lives in hiding, and since they can't touch light, they can only travel through towns when it get's dark
also, idk if i want to keep calling it shadow magic or change the name to "smoke" magic since it fits better with the combination of air and fire, and smoke basically is just a type of air that comes from burning stuff lol
by the way, even though fire+air isn't light magic, air+water is kind of supposed to be something similar. think of how rainbows are just reflected light in the air, which only show up after it rains. so imagine being able to manipulate a rainbow's shape, change the wavelengths of colours, make it move around, and more. although i'm not too sure what to name this one. so far my only idea is naming it "mist" magic, but light magic would definitely work too
also since theres only one element left for me to name out of the current twelve, the major fire/minor earth element is "lava" or "magma". which is pretty basic so i don't think it needs much explanations
hope i didn't write too many words lol
you got 2.5/4 of your guesses
you got shadow magic and metal magic correct! (i wasn't expecting anyone to get the shadow one lol)
the fire+air one is actually lightning, but you said light so that's why it's half a point
water+air is supposed to be storm magic, but that's kind of a placeholder for now since idk if that would be too similar to air magic (the storm icon is supposed to look like a storm cloud AND a skull though, so i can see why you guessed it as necromancy)
i'm also bored
what should i draw
this is basically the 4 main elements + 8 "sub-elements"/element combinations from a random magic system idea i've had for a while
the main 4 elements are fire, water, earth, and air which are in the middle of each quarter section of the circle (i know those are overused but what else are the main ones supposed to be lol)
unlike other magic systems, instead of there being a single combination for each pair, there is instead two elements, with one being the "major" element and the other being the "minor" element
for example:
major earth + minor water = nature/plant magic
major water + minor earth = ice/snow magic
also another thing in this which i haven't seen much of is that opposite elements have no combinations (no fire/water combos, and no earth/air combos)
ok that's probably enough words in this post, but if you want to know what each sub-element is, feel free to ask in the comments (also it would be fun if someone tried to guess what the rest of the element combinations are, though a few of them aren't too easy to guess)
oh nice!!
yeah this wiki in 2023 was so fun i miss it too
since this is a really old thread, maybe copy and paste your comment onto beanie's (the person who posted this) message wall (https://theowlhouse.fandom.com/wiki/Message_Wall:BeanieAndTheDucks)
