"Art Lessons with Luz" is the fourth animated short of the The Owl House short series, Owl Pellets. It premiered on April 25, 2020.
Synopsis[]
King is very fascinated by Luz's drawings, but Hooty loses his cool when he can't tell the difference between a drawing and real life!
Plot[]
This short begins with King complimenting Luz's artistic abilities and asks how she's able to draw so well. Luz explains that one of her favorite methods when it comes to drawing is breaking things down into simple shapes. She demonstrates this by drawing the outlines of King, Eda and Hooty, the last of whom Luz considers the easiest to draw using this particular technique, since Hooty's basically just a circle and a tube.
Right then, Hooty rolls in, and asks what Luz and King are up to. Upon seeing Luz's drawing of himself, Hooty becomes shocked and gets aggressive, as he mistakes the drawing as another owl attempting to take his territory. Luz and King attempt to calm him down, with King pointing out that it's just a drawing, but Hooty (in his blind rage) tears up the drawing that Luz created of him.
Later, Hooty is seen "sitting" on the couch and thanking Luz and King for calming him down, admitting that he can get a little territorial. However, what he doesn't realize is that he's just talking to elaborate life-size drawings of Luz and King, who are watching him from a nearby doorway. When King notes how Hooty has been talking to the drawings of him and Luz for several hours at that point, Luz replies that the magic of drawing with good proportions is how realistic it can make certain things look. When Hooty notices the real Luz and King watching him from the doorway, he becomes confused and starts freaking out. The short ends with Luz and King slowly retreating from the doorframe during Hooty's freakout.
