Belos' staff was the staff used by Emperor Belos.
Appearance[]
The staff appears to be a mechanical version of the standard witch's staff. Able to unfold from the lower rod section, it can be easily concealed beneath Belos' cloak. Similar to curses, the staff emits a red glow when used and does not require spell circles to use its magic, its only requirement being held aloft before activating.
Unlike other witch's staffs, the staff does not feature a palisman atop it. However, in its place, there is a red orb with a white-gold wing next to it, which acts as a focusing point for magic when being used.
Background[]
Belos, at some point, constructed a staff that allowed him to wield artificial magic and used it early on in his crusade. The staff used prior to his time as Emperor had a much simpler design, implying that his current staff is an upgraded version of the one used during the tail end of the Savage Ages.
The staff can be seen, alongside Belos, in statue form beside the entrance to Belos' castle during "Agony of a Witch". However, it is not actually shown to the audience until the next episode and season finale, "Young Blood, Old Souls".
In "King's Tide," Belos uses his staff to begin the Draining Spell by drawing lines around the nine Coven Heads, then releasing a blast of magic to activate the spell. He later uses his staff to battle Luz when she is brought to him, soon overpowering her and putting the staff away. It is unknown what happened to the staff after the Collector seemingly killed Belos.
Abilities[]
- Earth magic: Belos is able to raise sharp spikes of rock up from the ground using the staff.
- Mind magic: When Lilith presented her sister, Eda, in her cursed Owl Beast form, Belos hit Eda with some kind of spell from his staff which made Eda regain consciousness (but didn't make her transform back into her regular witch form).
