| This article is about the race. For the member that appears in the series, see The Collector. |
But should they meddle in our affairs, we'll clean the planet and scorch the air.
Collectors are a race of god-like beings who watched over the Demon Realm in the ancient past.
Appearance[]
Collectors are humanoid figures with glowing orange eyes. Murals in the Archive House suggest that they may be quite colossal in size. They are all shown to wear lengthy robes adorned in celestial imagery. The Archivists in particular are shown to wear short, nightcap-like hats with planetary ornaments tethered to the pointed tips. This design was also seen with the anonymous collector shown in the memories of the Owl Beast, but with a brooch resembling a white moon shape with two opposite-facing orange crescent moons attached on either side.
Younger members of the race, at least with the Collector, display pale yellow skin with blue parts and various celestial markings, such as stars. Their attire consists of shorter, long-sleeved robes reminiscent of pajamas, with suns and crescent moons on either sleeve, as well as a nightcap-like hat.
Background[]
Murals of collectors in the halls of the Archive House.
Little is known about collectors, but it appears they are a celestial race connected with magic and space, giving them abilities that allow them to manipulate reality. According to the Collector's book, collectors are long-lived species whose goal is to observe the passing of time and all life within and to collect and seal up members of each species in order to preserve them eternally. If they encounter resistance during their collecting, however, they have a known policy to, "clean the planet and scorch the air", i.e., planetary annihilation.[1] A specific group of members of this race is referred to as "the Archivists".[2]
They are, evidently, one of the most powerful magical races, their immense power only rivaled by the potent magic of another race, titans, whose magic has the ability to cancel out that of collectors', as was discovered by the Archivists when they sent the Collector to the Demon Realm on their behalf (with the Collector under the guise that this was a game).[1] The collectors would develop a rivalry with the titan race, believing such a powerful species to be a threat to their affairs.[3] It remains unclear as to how influential collectors and their quarrel with titans were, as there exists trace evidence of collectors in the modern day. However, murals of collectors inside the Archive House depict collectors locked in a battle with titans and donning skulls of fallen titans as they fought. To ensure their purge was successful, the Archivists wiped out the titans one by one until only two remained, those being the Titan and his unborn egg, which hatched into King.[1]
The outcome of the collector-titan war ultimately resulted in the near-extinction of the titan race, whose strewn bodies became landmasses found across the Demon Realm.[3] However, the current status of other collectors remains unclear, as only the youngest Collector was trapped by the Titan in the In Between Realm.[4][2] Around the time of this conflict, some ancient witches came to worship this young Collector as the huntsmen of titans (calling him the "Grand Huntsman"), and adopted the role of Titan Trappers using titan-based attire inspired by collectors.[3]
In the present, the Collector was freed from the In Between Realm by the last remaining titan, King. Instead of continuing the collectors' goal, he bonded with King, and afterward decided to return to the stars to discover more of the universe.[2]
Powers and abilities[]
- Magic: The collectors possess immense magical power of unknown source or origin. Despite their caliber, the magic of a collector can be cancelled out by a titan's magic.
- Nigh-omnipotence: Similarly to titans, collectors possess nigh-omnipotent magical ability. They possess such immense power that only titans are able to counteract them.
- Levitation: Collectors are capable of levitating in order to move around. They can fly around at very fast speeds, and there is seemingly no limit to how high they can ascend.
- Teleportation: Collectors are capable of teleporting themselves or other individuals through a puff of smoke, as seen with the youngest Collector.
- Star meteorites: Collectors can create giant multicolored stars that fly around, creating huge colorful explosions on contact.
- Mental Manipulation: Collectors are capable of creating illusions or dreams in their enemy's minds, as shown by the Collector. The only known way to break the spell is through a titan's light glyph
- Transmogrification: Collectors possess the ability to change the form of other living beings, capable of transforming their victims into puppets or curse scrolls. For the former, the only known way to break the spell is through a titan's light glyph.
- Creation magic: Collectors can create objects and even living beings out of thin air as they wish. As seen with the Collector in "Watching and Dreaming", Collectors may also be able to create pocket dimensions, such as the "bedroom" made by the Collector for him and King (although it is technically unknown if the dimension in question existed beforehand, or if he created it).

Trivia[]
The mysterious collector that turned the Owl Beast into a curse.
- In "Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door", a tall, robed collector was shown in the Owl Beast's memories, turning it into a curse. Although the episode's credits name them as "the Collector", and that they are also voiced by Fryda Wolff, their appearance differs greatly from the one seen later in the series. Their head is entirely shadowed by a hood, and the only visible feature of their face is a glowing yellow crescent moon, making it unclear if this is the same collector as the one that appears in the series.
- The Archive House's murals in "For the Future" depict the Archivists as having similar appearances to this collector, such as wearing long robes with patterns of celestial bodies.
- The origin or source of a collector's magic is currently unknown, although it seemingly differs from the magic that titans, witches, and demons use (glyph magic for titans, bile sacs and spell circles for witches and demons). They may use a separate form of magic entirely, as implied by the Collector in "Watching and Dreaming".
