Emmiline Bailey Marcostimo[1] is a minor character in The Owl House. She is the chameleon palisman that belongs to Gus Porter.
Appearance[]
Emmiline is a blue chameleon with small golden horns and two ridges on her head; the front ridge is split in the center. She has light blue eyes with dark pale yellow irises. She has a light green stripe under her belly that extends to her tail. Her staff form is admiral blue.
Personality[]
Emmiline is shown to be resourceful and kindhearted. She gets along well with the other palismen belonging to Gus' friends. She is also said to be different and to do things in different ways.
Background[]
At some point, Emmiline had an owner, but for some reason was left abandoned and was looked after by the Bat Queen.[2]
During Palisman Adoption Day at Hexside, Emmiline bonds with young illusionist Gus Porter over his wish to study the Human Realm and to re-establish contact with the giraffes.[2]
When Luz gets sick with the Common Mold, Emmiline assists Gus as he helps to care for his friend and fortifies the defenses of the Owl House.[3]
Later, Emmiline, in staff form, is used by Gus to train for and to play flyer derby, where they both have a hard time flying normally so they develop their own style of Gus standing straight up and down. While the palismen are briefly captured and stowed in a cage by Darius, she is soon rescued and reunited with Gus.[4]
As the Day of Unity draws near, Gus keeps Emmiline close as he encounters Hunter hiding out at Hexside.[5] On the Day of Unity, Clover encourages Emmiline, Flapjack, and Ghost to help out Gus and his friends by giving them food to ease their qualms with one another. She remains with Gus as he and the others travel to the head of the Titan to rescue Luz from Emperor Belos.[6]
As Gus, Amity, Alador, Willow, and Hunter take an air ship to the Head, she and the other palismen give their owners food after they start arguing. After Coven Scouts shoot down the air ship, Gus flies her to save Luz.
After Gus and the others are stranded in the Human Realm, Emmiline and the other palismen help in trying to create a working portal. After Emperor Belos possesses Hunter, Gus flies her in an attempt to distract Belos and they subdue Belos temporarily. After a portal is opened, she goes back to the Demon Realm. Shortly afterward, she and Clover followed Hunter as he scouts out the perimeter of the Owl House. When Hunter sees the Collector and King flying into Bonesborough, Emmiline transforms into a staff and flies Gus and Luz into town. Later, she and the other palismen play with Stringbean.
Powers and abilities[]
- Attachment and Detachment: Emmiline has the ability to attach herself onto Gus' staff as a palisman and detach herself to fly or walk around like a regular living being.
- Flight: Emmiline is able to fly in her staff form.
