Guard Captains are minor antagonists of The Owl House. They are members of the Emperor's Coven, in charge of leading the Coven Scouts during missions.
Appearance[]
At least three variations of the captain's uniforms are known to exist in the series so far.
The first variation, seen in "Hunting Palismen," consists of a gray tunic with a gold sash, dark gold sleeves, and brown gloves. On the wearer's head, the captain wears a white hooded cowl with gold outlines, a light gray bird-like mask with six small eyeholes, and a golden medallion with a triangle.
The second variation, seen in "Eda's Requiem," is very similar to the Coven Scout uniform, except the mask has a more defined ridge and sharper beak, longer black gloves, a chest plate, and black boots as opposed to the usual brown. Their cowl also bears a golden triangle.
The third variation, seen in "Eclipse Lake," is very similar to the first variation but features a golden helmet with a royal blue plume.
Background[]
Guard Captains are higher-ranked members of the prestigious Emperor's Coven, tasked with leading teams of Coven Scouts in various missions.
When the Golden Guard's airship was attacked by a dragon, a Guard Captain was seen with Kikimora and a team of Coven Scouts to recover the Palismen that the Golden Guard was sent to capture. Kikimora gave her the Golden Guard's helmet as proof of his apparent demise. Shocked and saddened by this information, the Guard Captain set out to report the bad news to Emperor Belos. Unbeknownst to the captain, however, was that Kikimora had secretly sent the dragon herself to attack the Golden Guard so she could deliver the Palisman herself in order to win Belos's favor.
Another Guard Captain and a group of Coven Scouts led by Kikimora head to The Knee to collect Titan's Blood at Eclipse Lake located in abandoned mines. The captain felt Kikimora was becoming paranoid about the Golden Guard trying to take over her mission. When arriving in the mines, she and the scouts battle Eda Clawthorne and King and then discover Amity Blight, who they believed was also after Titan's Blood. After capturing Amity, she was forced to watch her while Kikimora and the Coven Scouts went down the mineshaft on their Abomaton but decided to throw Amity down the hole when she got bored. However, she and her group crash down the mineshaft, but she was still standing and tried to stop Eda and King from getting the Titan's Blood only to be defeated quickly by Eda.
As the Day of Unity drew near, another Captain accompanied Adrian Graye Vernworth to Hexside School of Magic and Demonics to brand all the students with Coven Sigils. Just as he was about to brand Edric Blight, Gus Porter exposed him and trapped Hexside in a giant illusion. After Gus was captured, Principal Bump along with Hunter and the students of Hexside battled him and his team of Coven Scouts but were defeated. He then summoned an Abomaton that defeated Bump and the students but was defeated by Amity and Willow Park. After being defeated, the captain warns Principal Bump that he will tell Belos what happened, but Bump told him he will be thrilled that one of his Coven Heads was beaten by a bunch of students.
He spotted Severine, one of the Coven Scouts not getting on the airship, he orders her back on the ship, but she quits in a rage after being put up with the Emperor's Coven's abuse. The captain then boarded his ship and left Hexside.
It is unclear what became of the Guard Captains after the defeat of Emperor Belos
