A magic amplifier is a small object resembling a hand mirror that users tend to wear as either a necklace or an earring.
Background[]
While visiting Hexside School of Magic and Demonics in an attempt to trick the students into joining a Coven, Adrian Graye Vernworth uses the amplifier (which he had previously worn as an earring) to stabilize a school-wide illusion created by Gus Porter. After Gus is taken, Adrian uses his magic amplifier to attempt to locate the Looking Glass Ruins by examining Gus's memories after he refuses to answer him. However, the spell backfires and causes Gus to be surrounded by a blue sphere. When someone touches the sphere, it causes them to experience their worst memories. After Adrian and his forces are defeated, Gus takes the amplifier for himself. He wears it as a necklace for the rest of season two, and as an earring in season three. Gus uses it to see through a Coven Scout's cloaking spell when he, Luz, Hunter, and Willow are sneaking into Blight Manor. While fighting Belos, Gus uses the amplifier to force Belos to see his worst memories.
