Trivia

  • The art style and designs, while very similar, have some differences from the final series.
    • Luz's shirt was a white and purple striped t-shirt, and she did not wear jean shorts over her leggings.
    • King had amber fur, a yellow-tipped tail, and dark blue eyes with red scleras.
  • Willow's name in the animation reel is "Paulina". Her eyes are a different color.
  • The animation test features a character named "Sir William", who otherwise appears nowhere in the final series.
  • In "Yesterday's Lie", Luz's development outfit can be seen in her room.
  • The test reel seemingly exists in at least two versions, each with identical or similar content, but with numerous minor differences in animation.[5][6]
  • The animation test is often mistakenly referred to as the series' pilot. However, the pilot and animation test are distinct from one another.[4][3]
