Princess[1][2] is a minor antagonistic character in The Owl House. She is a hand dragon belonging to Kikimora.

Appearance[]

Princess is a dragon-like creature colored in a dark teal blue with a pale teal underbelly. She has an elongated snake-like body with eight pairs of small legs. Her bodily features are literally comprised of hands and fingers. The head is composed of two hands with four fingers, placed in a praying position for her mouth. Behind her head are four pairs of horns: a small pair behind the thumbs, and three pairs that are arranged from longest to shortest beside the head. The thumbnails on the head serves as her eyes, while the other three pairs of fingers form her snout. The front half of the fingers on the snout are curled in a way that forms the creature's mouth, thus making her mouth open from side to side like the mandibles of most insects. Each finger on the snout has a small, sharp black fingernail.

Inside her mouth, however, each finger is covered in two rows of brown teeth and in between, it has a long, barbed pink tongue. Her wings resemble a giant pair of hands with seven fingers, which become a pair of fists when they are tucked away. The fingers are teal blue with dark teal fingernails, while the membrane on the wings is pale green. She has a long, slender tail that ends with a giant hand with six fingers with dark teal fingernails. Her eight pairs of legs resemble fingertips the same color as her underbelly, and also have dark teal fingernails.

Background[]

Princess attacks Hunter's airship, which was carrying the nest of palismen, and causes it to crash to the ground. Luz, who was unexpectedly abducted along with the nest of palismen, regains consciousness and sees Kikimora calling Princess with a finger-shaped whistle. She discovers that Kikimora owns the creature, and realizes that it was Kikimora who sent the dragon to sabotage Hunter's mission to steal the palismen for Emperor Belos, so that she can deliver the palismen herself to him and thus become the Emperor's favorite subordinate. To cover up her plot, she lies to the members of the Emperor's Coven that Hunter was killed in the crash, and to make sure that he does not return, she sends her dragon to kill Hunter if he survived.

Luz wakes Hunter up, and informs him of what happened and about Kikimora's plan. They leave behind Hunter's cloak for Princess to find, and escape into a nearby town called Latissa. From there, Hunter realizes that Luz was right when he sees Princess bringing the nest of palismen, that he stole first, to Kikimora. Forced to work together with Hunter, Luz comes up with a plan to stop Kikimora and her dragon from delivering the palismen to Emperor Belos. With Kikimora and Princess en route to the Emperor's castle, she uses a fire and ice glyph combo mixed with pollen from sleeping nettle flowers to create a sleep-inducing mist, which Kikimora and Princess become exposed to, causing them both to become drowsy. Using a light spell, Luz and Hunter lure Princess to the ground, where she falls asleep after crash landing.

While Hunter fights a drowsy Kikimora, Luz uses Kikimora's finger-shaped whistle to wake up Princess, and then flies her back to Hexside to return the nest of palismen. The dragon is last seen sleeping alone in the grudgby arena the following morning, leaving Principal Bump bewildered by her presence.[3]

She is cared for by Bump following these events. As part of their plan at the Coven Day Parade, Luz decides to return her to Kikimora as she apparently became too much to handle. Princess is at the docks awaiting her former master, preparing to fly her back to Palm Stings to see her family, but once back in the saddle, Kikimora double-crosses Luz and commands Princess to attack her and Amity. Following a brief fight against the girls, Princess and Kikimora prepare to strike them down, when the mount is suddenly wrapped by vines conjured by Terra Snapdragon. Terra reveals that Kikimora was being tested for her loyalty to the coven, and for proving her dedication to Belos, she gets to live for now. She then has her vines recollect Princess, who is dragged underneath the docks, before returning Kikimora to the parade.[1]
