"Raine's Rhapsody", also known as "Eda's Requiem" when played as a duet, is a piece of music that plays various times in the show.

Overview[]

In "Eda's Requiem", Eda plays the song four times on her cittern, with Raine accompanying her for the final time with their violin. Eda first plays it in her room, then in the flashback when she and Raine are at the hill, then to Raine again in the BATs' meeting place, then finally with Raine in the forest in an attempt to take out Darius and Eberwolf.

In "Follies at the Coven Day Parade", a violin version is played on a device by King while Luz is reading Raine's bio, and Eda later plays it on the same device during the Coven Day Parade when trying to remind Raine of their duet.

Variations of the song played in the background of "Them's the Breaks, Kid" as a leitmotif in the first scene of the flashback, when Raine and Eda first meet, and when they ask her about Hexside later in the episode. It is also heard in "O Titan, Where Art Thou" when Eda was speaking to Raine through a crystal ball and during a portion of "King's Tide" and "For the Future" respectively.

Raine whistles it in a minor key in "Watching and Dreaming" while trapped inside the Emperor's castle's throne room.

Trivia[]

  • It seems to be the leitmotif of Raine Whispers.
  • The composition is in the key of E minor. Incidentally, E is the first letter of Eda's name.
