Sleeping Nettles are a kind of plant native to the Boiling Isles that, if consumed or if its particles are inhaled, lull the afflicted to sleep for hours, with the added effect of heightening dreams.[1][2]

Appearance[]

Sleeping nettles are a flowering plant with olive green stems and leaves. Their flowers have two layers of four orange petals, with the pistil in the center being yellow.

Background[]

Luz and Hunter use the sleeping nettles, along with a fire and ice glyph combo to produce a sleep-inducing smoke, forcing Kikimora and her dragon to land.[2]

Hooty bakes sleeping nettles into a batch of cookies intended for Eda, hoping she can get some much-needed rest. Unfortunately, Hooty is unaware of their dream-heightening effects, and the cookies cause an intense nightmare with the Owl Beast; however, this dream causes Eda to realize that the Owl Beast is just as much an unwilling participant in the curse as she is, meaning Hooty unintentionally helps Eda to finally come to terms with her curse and make peace with the Owl Beast.[1]

Boscha and Kikimora use sleeping nettles to knock out Luz, her mother, Mattholomule, Amity, Gus, Hunter, and Willow before throwing them in the detention pits at Hexside.
