Time pools are magical passages that enable someone to travel through time.

Background[]

According to the book "History's Top 10 Plot Holes", time pools are mythical puddles acting as windows which can be used to travel through different moments of time. The location they appear in appears to be random, and it is unclear how long they stay in one spot. They never appear in the same spot twice. A device requiring great amounts of energy is needed in order to track down their precise location. Time pools can also cause the surrounding area to remain "locked in time," as evident when Lilith took a bark sample of a Wrinkling Oak. Those who venture into the time pools can also interact with the past and drastically affect the future.[1]

Lilith and Luz go on a journey to find the time pools in order to go back in time and meet Philip Wittebane. After a day, they manage to track down the location of the pools to a beach. There, they poke their heads into various time pools and are able to see how the Boiling Isles looked like in different eras. Eventually, Luz manages to find the pool leading to the Deadwardian Era, the era in which Philip lived. After listing out the possible risks of going back in time, Lilith goes into the pool with Luz.[1]

History[]

It is theorized that in the Premysteric Era, Titan's Blood was mixed with the magical algae of the Boiling Sea in order to create time pools.[1]
