Lilith: "This island shouldn't be here. It's not on any of the maps."
King: "It's always been there when I looked for it."
—Lilith and King as they approach the island along with Hooty and Luz, "Echoes of the Past"

The Uncharted island is a small island located outside the Boiling Isles.

Background[]

Very little is known about the island. As Lilith stated, it is not found on any of the maps the Boiling Isles has to offer and takes hours to reach by palisman or motorboat. It holds a tower which contains an unknown material with symbols of a language that predates any that Lilith previously knew. This tower served as King's birthplace, and it was where he met Eda while she was pursued by the Emperor's Coven and sought shelter from the boiling rain. The island has very dense vegetation, which along with the tower suggests that it is very ancient. As shown during a flashback in "Echoes of the Past", the island is home to various other creatures beside the now inactive Jean-Luc and King.

The remnants of an ancient tower, located in the island's center, display murals depicting the history of the extinction of the titans by the Titan Trappers. The symbol inside the tower, which King later carved into his collar tag, was later revealed to be a protective symbol created by his father, meant to hide King from the collectors, who aimed to eradicate his species.[1]

Trivia[]

  • The design of the island resembles Arnold Böcklin's famous painting, "Isle of the Dead".
  • King first assumed that the mural of the warrior with the spear was a picture of his father. However, the events of "Edge of the World" reveal that the warrior is actually a Titan Trapper, implying the mural depicts a battle between the Titans and the Trappers.
  • The creation behind the tower is never revealed in the series, although it was hinted by Dana Terrace that its purpose was connected to an established character who has amnesia.[2]
