Vitimir[1] is a minor antagonistic character in The Owl House. He is the head of the Potions Coven, being a key part of the Draining Spell.
Appearance[]
Body[]
Vitimir is a lean humanoid with sickly greenish-grayish skin, long, wavy white hair, a long, pointy nose, and large red eyes with pink horizontal diamond-shaped pupils and yellow sclera. Vitimir's feet resemble a bird's and are maroon with gray talons. His arms are long enough to reach his feet and his fingernails are black.
Clothing[]
Vitimir wears a tall, black pilgrim hat and a black robe with yellow bands. His arms are bandaged with white tape, and he carries a brown backpack-like box on his back. Vitimir also dons a yellow mask over his mouth and only takes it off when he is required to use his corrosive breath.
In "Hunting Palismen", Vitimir wore a white cape with the Potions Coven sigil on his neck over his current outfit.
In "King's Tide", his hat was damaged by Darius.
Personality[]
Not much can be inferred about Vitimir, but he is shown to be completely loyal to Emperor Belos and willing to harm anyone who opposes the Emperor's plans.
After Belos was destroyed and the Collector turned everyone back to normal, he showed ambition to take the throne himself. Even after Darius and Eberwolf warned their fellow coven heads against it, Vitimir still showed interest in the throne and had to be dissuaded with a physical threat.
Background[]
As Head Witch of the Potions Coven, Vitimir is integral to Emperor Belos' plans and is tasked with inducting members into the Potions Coven.[2] Along with his peers, he was present when Raine Whispers became the new head of the Bard Coven.[3]
A few weeks before the Day of Unity, he and the other head witches walk out of a meeting upon learning Belos will not be present and ignore Hunter as the Golden Guard orders them to stay.
Later, during the Day of Unity, Vitimir and other Coven Heads expose the CATs' plan to corrupt the Draining Spell by uncovering Eda, who was disguised as Raine. A fight breaks out, and Vitimir attempts to assist Mason while he is being attacked by Eberwolf, only to be blocked off by Darius. Vitimir tries to counterattack the Abomination Coven Head with his toxic breath, only for Darius to avoid his attack and Vitimir to slice off the top of his hat in return. Eventually, Eda, Darius, Eberwolf, and Raine are restrained and put into place, allowing the Draining Spell to continue as planned. However, when the Draining Spell's true effect takes hold, Vitimir collapses on the ground, his magic and life draining out of him until the spell is stopped by the Collector.[4]
However, he and the other Coven Heads, except Terra, are turned into puppets and placed in the Archive House to guard Eda, who is believed to be trapped in her owl beast form, attacking her if she tries to escape.[5]
After Belos' death, Vitimir is returned to normal. Later, he, Adrian Graye Vernworth, and Terra Snapdragon try to take the throne for themselves before getting quickly stopped by Darius and Eberwolf. Vitimir gives one last attempt to take the throne (simply to spite the two former coven heads), but he is attacked by Darius, just barely dodging the blow.[6]
Powers and abilities[]
- Magic: Vitimir is able to use magic. Like all witches and biped demons, his connection to magic comes from a sac of magic bile attached to his heart. Having earned the rank of coven leader, he is undoubtedly very powerful.
- Potions: As the leader of the Potions Coven, Vitimir is skilled at the art of potion making.
- Toxic breath: Vitimir can release a cloud of powerful and corrosive toxins from his mouth.

Trivia[]
- Vitimir being a scarecrow-like figure able to release toxins from his mouth is a nod to Batman villain Scarecrow, who wears a scarecrow-like costume whose mask similarly allows him to release his "fear toxin."
